Notes
It was indeed a great honor to catch the attention of Asianet Television of Kochi on the Aramaic tradition, which is an integral part of Kerala and India. The reason was the experimental program of a Hindustani classical concert with an Aramaic phrase: MAR WALAH (My Lord and my God) uttered in amazement by Thomas the Apostle. To the Aramaic Project team, the news coverage was like a reward for their decade-long efforts to draw attention to endangered linguistic and music traditions that are crucial to the cultural discourse in India. We are posting this on our channel for those who missed the telecast on 20 August 2022. The CMSIndia is grateful to the Asianet team in Kochi for their efforts and support. Interestingly, the recording took place in the drawing room/prayer room of Kuriachan Palackal against the backdrop of the intercultural image of Christ the Guru. It was a perfect backdrop for the conversation on connecting a Semitic language with an Indian music tradition. We hope the news coverage will inspire young musicians to attempt experimental compositions.
