Notes
Pesaha Appam murickal/home liturgy/and the priesthood of the laity
PART - III Rev. Dr. Paul Maniyattu in conversation with Fr. Joseph Palackal,CMI. At Paurastya Vidyapitam, vadavathoor, kottayam on 27 July 2023
The Pesaha Appam Murickal on Holy Thursday is a unique ancient tradition of Christians in Kerala that has its roots in the Pre-Christian, Jewish Passover meal. This living tradition is an intangible link to the early, first-century Christianity in Kerala and merits more research from historians. The tradition adds value and meaning to material evidence that is of much later periods. It also highlights the priesthood of the laity that is not part of the conversation today. It may be time to reset our conversation on Eucharistic theology and liturgy.
