AP 422-2-3 - Fr. Alexander Kattakkayam, CMI sings melodies from the Hudra
Here is a music treasure from the past. This is the second and third of forty-four melodies I recorded in the voice of Fr. Alexander Kattakkayam, CMI, a scholarly singer of Syriac chants, in January 1996. These recordings are significant because they contain melodies that are not currently in use. They are not in use because Fr. Abel Periyappuram, CMI, who prepared the Malayalam version of the Hudra, decided not to use them. Fr. Abel articulated his reason to do so in a letter to me on 15 December 1997.......
