Glory to God

Language English
Composer of melody Joseph J. Palackal and George Thaila
Music Arrangements David Claman and Dennis K. Poulose
Sung by: Joseph J. Palackal and Chorus

Introduction:

Notably, the Mass does not begin with an invocation of the Holy Trinity (In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit) as in the Latin rite. Rather, after the initial dialogue between the celebrant and the people, the celebrant starts the Mass singing thrice the angels' hymn at the birth of Jests, "Glory to God in the highest to which the congregation spends with "Amen." Following the performance practice of this hymn in the Solemn High Mass in Syriac, the melody is presented here in three ascending pitch registers (F, G, & A).
